Winter Wonderland: Osmo Cookie Decorating

Updated: Nov 20, 2020

November is here and the holidays are in full swing in our house! Of course we've been hopping to the parks to soak up all the Christmas we can but on Saturday morning we slowed down for some cookie decorating.

We did our cookie decorating with Osmo Masterpiece this time. The app is so great! You can use preloaded graphics or take a picture of anything or anyone. Once the picture is uploaded, you can trace it to any blank surface. Usually this would probably be paper but this time it was cookies... yum yum!

My son chose to use one of his favorite ornaments from Give Kids the World as his inspiration. He loves Rudolph! Anyway, we simply took a picture of the ornament and it placed the outline on the screen. He could then use that outline to trace right onto his cookies with his food markers.

He was so proud when he was finished!

What I love is that he's drawing and that the possibilities are endless! He could draw any toy, our Christmas trees, or me. So while we won't always be decorating cookies with Osmo, he can be creative and draw whatever he wishes!

He even wanted to trace Aubie onto a cookie... boy does he want that coding game and that makes this math teacher's heart so happy!

This is one happy cookie decorator over here :)

We love our Osmo and all the "games." I put that in quotes because the kids think they are playing but they are actually learning... gasp! When you purchase a genius starter kit it not only comes with masterpiece but also math and word games. We can't wait to play with the other games more as the school breaks are approaching.

This mom loves the apps because once I get him started he can explore on his own. It's such positive screen time and helps children to become more creative problem solvers. So what is on your Christmas shopping list for the kids?
