Disney Property is Opening... Thoughts from a Local Disney Lover

Disney is starting to re-open and I couldn't be more excited. Are masks going to make my stay at the parks shorter than normal? ... yes. But will I still feel goosebumps because some of the magic will be back? ... yes.

The above picture was a highlight of recent trip to Disney Springs opening day for me so let's start there.

Masks... If you plan on going anywhere on theme park properties this summer, plan on wearing a mask. Plenty of small shops are selling them so I will list a few here:

If you plan on staying awhile, definitely plan on ducking into some stores to shop and get air conditioning. Also consider making a reservation so you can have some relief from your mask. My first meal back was The Polite Pig. I missed it so much. Of course they had new protocols such as social distance markers on the ground, plexiglass dividers for cashiers, and reduced seating but the food was even better than I remembered!

I also visited Blaze Pizza the following day which had many of the same protocols.

It felt so nice to be back on property enjoying some of my favorite foods!

So many stores were so happy to have us back including the Marketplace Starbucks close to World of Disney. They even created a special, delicious "Welcome Back" drink. It's refresher/coconut milk based which is why I think I enjoyed it so much!

When World of Disney is in high demand there will be a virtual queue. It was really long on opening day but I don't see it being that busy again. In World of Disney they were allowing up to 300 people at once. That seems like a lot but it seemed so empty when we were in.

The summer line of merchandise is so cute! They seemed to be restocking merchandise constantly. Other stores formed socially distant queues outside of the store to maintain the lower capacity inside. I did not have to wait long to get into any store and am glad they have these protocols in place. I've honestly felt safer at Disney Springs than Publix.

Wine Bar George has a new adorable Corkcicle! I have the neon pink one but I love this summer color block one too. I also got to visit my other favorite stores Sugarboo and Co, Vera Bradley and Basin. It was good to feel a little normal again. Even though the protocols are uncomfortable at times I know they are what Disney knows best to help everyone the most.

Okay now for the parks. I'm sad they are waiting so long to open mostly because my time off is in the summer but I know it may be for the best. You know I miss being in the parks and seeing all my Disney friends.

Would I spend a ton of money if I was coming from out of the area with the new restrictions?... no way. It's why I decided not to continue looking into Disneyland for the time being. I know when I go back to the parks I won't be there for too much of the day. I honestly do not understand why their shorter hours are during the hottest of Florida's summer days.

The masks will get hot quickly and I totally understand others not wanting to wear them in the heat. This is completely a personal preference. I know IF I decide to take my son it will not be for a long period of time. A couple hours max.

The proposed park changes make me sad but I will be happy just to be there. I've gone many times in the past year without riding a ride or watching a show, parade, or fireworks and still made great memories. If you have to pay full price for a day ticket, however, it would be tougher to justify the cost.

Lots of rumors also floating that just break my Disney-loving heart. If you didn't hear, I bought a Universal Orlando annual pass so I'll be excited to share my thoughts about those parks with the restrictions soon.

Thanks as always for following along!
