What we all needed in 2020 was something to look forward to... and for me that was the holiday season! Usually Disney begins decorating in mid August but this year they decided to wait another month. It was well worth the wait. Below is just a sampling of what we've been able to see and do since Halloween has arrived at Walt Disney World.
The Characters in Costumes!
We've loved walking in to Magic Kingdom with the sound of "Boo to You" or "Good to be Bad" playing along Main Street USA. Even Jack, Sally, and Oogie Boogie have their float with music low enough to hear Jack cackle.
We also loved how characters were out on the train station balcony after getting off their cavalcade floats. How fun to see costumed characters like the Fab 5 or villains waving and blowing kisses (or insults)! Pooh and friends in their adorable get ups can be found interchangeably with Peter Pan on the Crystal Palace balcony.
Another fun way to see Minnie, Mickey, Goofy and Pluto in fun Halloween costumes is at Minnie's Hollywood Dine at Hollywood Studios. Click here to read my article that I contributed to WDW Magazine.
The Most Delightful and Spooky Halloween Treats
Halloween treats and drinks can be found in all theme parks, many resorts and Disney Springs. While most of them have been tasty they are all picture worthy! Our favorite has been the Minnie Mousse Cake from Amorettes at Disney Springs.
We've also enjoyed the Pumpkin Spice Milkshake found at Auntie Gravity's in Magic Kingdom.
The Pumpkin Spice Mickey Waffle Sundae found at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments at Magic Kingdom.
And the Rotten Apple Punch complete with Poison Apple glow cube. All were worth the theme park pricing in comparison to other foods.
I also found a few other cupcakes and the one from the Grand Floridian was so yummy with apple pie filling.
Information about these and many of the other Halloween specialties can be found here.
The Decor Warms my Fall-Loving Heart
Mickey Pumpkins... need I say more. Yes, some of the major decorative icons are missing but the feeling of fall is still alive on Main Street USA. And if you're able, be sure to stay until after dark when the Mickeys flicker in the setting sun.
The shop windows also exude lots of holiday spirit.
Grabbing a Pumpkin Spice Starbucks and people watching here sounds like a perfect Sunday afternoon to me.
Adults and Kids can wear Costumes all day at Magic Kingdom
This is your year to wear a costume into Magic Kingdom until October 31. Adults are allowed to wear costumes as long as you don't have a costume mask and don't try to pose as a real character. My best friend and I had a little fun in front of the castle...
Check out my Instragram for some fun video clips and reels.
There are also a couple fun Halloween Photopass opportunities found at the Magic Kingdom. In addition to the Haunted Mansion shots, you could be found holding a flaming pumpkin...
... or feeding Zero (Jack Skellington's dog). How fun!
Finally, there is always merchandise. My favorite purchases have been the cute orange corduroy Minnie ears with a plaid bow, my Mickey pumpkin pillow, and a Halloween treat candle.
So while it's not the same, I feel that Disney has done a great job bringing the spirit of Halloween and Fall to their parks and resorts. I loved the additions of character cavalcades that had previously only been available via Mickey's Not so Scary Halloween Party and the Villains After Hour events.
Thank you Disney for keeping some magic alive in one of the weirdest years ever!
